Sean reviewed Phatware's CalliGrapher 8.2 for MobileGadgetNews back in February, 2006 and was thrilled with the handwriting program for PockectPC devices. Recently, I tried the latest version, CalliGrapher 8.4 and I can say this program is the best handwriting recognition program for the Windows Mobile 5.0 PockectPC platform. I was never a big fan of the PockectPC built-in transcriber due to recognition issues and the limited options it presented for the user. Calligrapher 8.4 offers the Windows Mobile 5.0 users a wide range of options including a customizable dictionary.

I highly recommend Calligrapher 8.4 for Windows Mobile 5.0 PockectPC users. The program is well supported by Phatware and it is truly a productivity tool for your PockectPC Phone. Currently Phatware is discounting the Calligrapher to $34.95. Given Phatware's superior support of Calligrapher 8.4 and additional service paks this is a fair price for the performance. In addition CalliGrapher is the winner of the prestigious Pocket PC Magazine Best Handwriting Utility Award.
