Hey, you're making us Newbies look bad! Don't go asking for illegal ROMs on here... Unless of course you are just inquiring about the ROM being released on the internet in general.

I'm looking forward to the review, so I'll know if my MPX200 might SOMEDAY be upgradable or if I'll be buying a new phone next year.

I'm betting you will have to buy a new phone. Heck, I would even if the WM5 ROM does get leaked. I just don't see the MPx200 running WM5 very well. I think if it does get leaked, only the bravest of users with plenty of time to sort out bugs should try it. But a leak is still nowhere to be found, so only time will tell.

Putting WM5 on a MPx 200 would be like putting Windows XP on a Pentium II Computer......good luck with that.

I'm running XP on one of my spare PII 400mhz. Ok, so it runs terribly slow but it is, in fact, most usable. I see your point.

Hum, faster you say? Probably means the OS is overclocking the CPU more than 2003 did (according to the theory that 2003 is overclocked in the first place). Would like to read the entire review (and maybe even see some more pictures). The new UI looks awsome! (IMG:https://mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

You see the MPX200 running well at all? (IMG:https://mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ... Actually, I would really like this phone if it didn't have so many bugs as it is (radio specifically). Compared to other phones I have, my MPX has terrible signal. If the WM5 ROM was legal to use and available, I would be in line for it instantly as my phone is pritty much unusable as it is.

Well all I can add to this is one thing. Use Caution...

If anyone does happen to come across a WM5 update for the MPx200, then just make sure that it isn't your primary phone. If you value your phone you shouldn't toy with such things. WM5 on these phones were "keyed" for that particular phone, and if you did manage to get an extracted ROM from one of those phones, and flash it to yours... Well lets say you would be the proud new owner of a shiny paperweight. I am not confirming anything, just tossing out a warning to those emulers (etc...) that are out there in desperate search for the upgrade...

While I do think it sounds promising that it might be running faster, I also agree that it's very risky (at least at this point), and wouldn't flash my phone yet since it's my primary phone. If it ever does get leaked and starts to be used often (kind of like 2003) then I would seriously consider it.

You speak wise obi-van-kenobi. (IMG:https://mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I must agree. I just don't see why should Microsoft, or anyone, make a new ROM for a phone that is no longer in production anymore. Magneto should be one of the marketing trumps for buyers to get new devices which are capable using wm2005, instead of wm2003, wm2003SE and wm2002.

Maybe if some Microsoft programmer is somehow emotionaly connected with MPx200, then it is possible, but i doubt that. (IMG:https://mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

That's true. However, in this case I belive muchomorek. He is a well established, trustworthy member of the site.

From what I have read, they did so as a lowest common denominator situation for internal testing. The fact that there is a WM5 ROM for the MPx200 is a well established fact that I don't think anyone is questioning. The WM5 on MPx200's has been well documented.

I also agree with smeg36... I have read some of muchomorek previous posts and and he doesn't seem like the kinda person who is just messing with us. I have read on other boards that there are a couple of lucky people who have gotten their hands on this ROM but I think thats mostly "people who know certain people". I don't think its been leaked to the net yet.

The trajectory of muchomorek in this forum is important, no doubt about that. I only try to contribute with a little critical thought. we tend to consider images like irrefutable facts, without thinking that sometimes they also lie.

No more to add! (IMG:https://mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

If some super smart person (like @nonymous, who released the WM2003 ROM)
*

@nonymous did not release the original 2003 ROM on the MPX200 he only released a hacked version of the 2003 AT&T ROM, that's another story and is not questioning his ability with ROMs (that speaks for itself)
WM5 has been around for a long time now and if it was easily hacked etc it would have been by now.
WM5 does run faster, this is because it's using the SD card for the OS.
As with all these beta ROMs, they look nice but are pretty useless especially one for the MPX200 as it's not using half the features WM5 is designed for.

Was just thinking that this might put a lot of stress on the SD card... Even though the MPX200 doesn't take full advantage of WM5, it would be nice to have just knowing that you're one of the few that do (IMG:https://mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) .

My 2 cents (IMG:https://mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I have had enough fun getting WM 2003 to run on the MPx200 as is but it does work stable and nicely now I might add. But in all cases if and when WM 05 is released I think i would rather get the phone that it is designed for, no sense in throwing a 1 gal jug of beer in a pint sized glass and wasting all the good stuff.

Not to change the subject but does anyone have any release dates for the new MPx(and like I can afford one). Or did I miss something and they scraped that idea at Motorola?
And will it from anyones knowledge be running 03 SE or 05?

the review will come soon, maybe too late since we have devices with wm5 on the market but it will be unique for mpx200 and a praise for mpx200.org

Cool I'm looking forward to it. If you wouldn't mind telling us: Did you purchase the MXP200 with WM5 already on it? I assume you did, but telling us yes or no should not be outside of forum guidelines.
