I hate the agonizing wait of the first time charge. Plus there is always conflicing information on how long to charge which sows seeds of doubt in my mind. The quick start guide says 2-3 hours, the online help says 5-6, and the all-knowing omega2008 says 12. What made it worse was the green light came on in less than an hour...

Many batteries come partially charged. With a new battery I charge until I get the green light (usually means charge protection circuit closed), pull the battery out, put it back in and charge until green again. That works for me.
With the new lith-polymer batteries I am not sure you need to be as anal as with the previous technology.

Thanks Abatis, you are speaking my language. I was hoping someone would tell me it was ok to jump the gun!

Here is an interesting site on Li-ion batteries (most newer phones use these). It looks like 3 hours is where you hit a plateau.
QUOTE
Preparing new lithium-ion for use
Unlike nickel and lead-based batteries, a new lithium-ion pack does not need cycling through charging and discharging. Priming will make little difference because the maximum capacity of lithium-ion is available right from the beginning. Neither does a full discharge improve the capacity of a faded pack. However, a full discharge/charge will reset the digital circuit of a 'smart' battery to improve the state-of-charge estimation

Almost all phones come with a partially (50-75%) charge so that the customer will be happier with the purchase (fewer returns). Also, the current battery used on pretty much all phones is Lithium Ion which requires no full charge before use. In fact they work better not ever being fully charged and discharged (deep cycled). So use the phone, charge it often, and enjoy.

Thanks guys. I followed Abatis' trick and the battery is fine. I was wondering if the 2125 would really be that different from my smt5600, but it truly is. Streaming Sirius through it is great.

Does the 2125 battery last long streaming radio?

I don't know, I haven't tested it for any extended period of time.

When I had my 2125 streaming radio didn't take up anymore battery life than sufing the net via GPRS/EDGE. However your battery does drain more when using GPRS but not that much, you should get a full days use out of your phone when using it pretty heavily when chared fully, I know I did. The battery on the 8125 is amazing, I use that device like a mini laptop and when the day is done its still at 30%

I have the SDA which is amazing btw.
I discovered streaming radio of the net after a couple of days of ownership.... I had the radio On with the speakerphone on, volume at highest, battery half full and the radio played for 4 hours before the battery eventually drained... ( that was my little 'test drive' on the battery)
Amazing!
