The MPx shows up in the funniest places.

 Thor the Thunder God just popped on MSN and gave me the link below to a site called NoteBookForums.com. There was a little laptop side-by-side thing going on with a couple of KILLER notebooks and then on the last picture, whammo, the MPx sitting on the keyboard of one. When pressed, the poster also put up a few more pics and linked to a pretty good video (on page 2) of the MPx in action. Check it out!
One more thing, a little birdie told me today (totally unconfirmed) that Motorola was prepping for shipment of the MPx! No word on carrier or any details just prepping. Very interesting, I had really thought the MPx was a dead duck but this gives me hope.

 Don't like to RTFM? Well, T-Mobile did set up a nice page on their website as a quick reference to do things like: Hard Reset, Connecting to T-Mobile 1x, Identifying the Status indicators, etc.

So how is your battery holding up on your new iPAQ?

Okay so I charged it fully and took it off the charger @ 8PM Friday and put it through these paces until the time of this post:
9 phone calls: all 2-4 minutes in duration
4 connections via WiFi: 5-10 minutes in duration
10 connections via GPRS: 5-10 minutes in duration
22 live demos: 3-5 minutes in duration (showing off Exchange Active Sync, Notes, Windows Media for both audio and video)
2 BT connections to my Mobile Crossing BT GPS unit: 5-10 Minutes in duration
Alarm (to wake me up) this morning going off for 20 minutes (managed by Spb Pocket Plus) :oops: - rough night/morning
- and my battery is at 13%!
This rivals the Audiovox PPC4100 where even underclocked to 200Mhz the unit would have no power left by Sunday night - yet equivalent to my XDA that also had the 1800mAh battery upgrade.

Between me, Sean and the rest of our members, I hope that is a beginning of a nice community of 6315 users for everyone to benefit from, as we have done for the MPx-200!
One thread, I'm hoping you members can contribute into is the one I've started regarding Wi-Fi.
I have been reading from several forums that a lot of people are having issues connecting to their home Wi-Fi access point, especially if you have WEP, SSID is not broadcasted, and MAC Filtering turned on. Somewhere I saw someone's account of their experience with T-Mobile support where it seems to be a known issue with the device not being able to connect to secure access points.
I been able to successfully connect with all those security measures in place on my Belkin 54g wireless + 4-port router....something is leading me to believe that there may be a setting being overlooked on the iPAQ or certain routers are just having problems.
If you are having issues please contribute to this thread in our forums.
Feel free to start some new threads in there too!

Well if you can't get enough coverage of the 6315, Corey McLaughlin over at MobileMinds has their review up:
Now some things I really like about this device are as follows. HP has managed to provide a great Windows Mobile device with all three types of wireless radio’s. As with the HP 5500 and 5400 series devices this device includes both Bluetooth® and WiFi (802.11b). And to give it that much more kick it also has built-in GSM/GPRS radio’s. You would think with all those radio’s that battery life would be about 2 hours. In my non scientific testing I found I can get at least 8 hours of use out of one charge. This is with a brand new battery even. Most of today’s battery’s that have been included on some of the latest devices I have tested have only gotten better after a few charges.

I put my TMO SIM in and it automatically configured my phone and GPRS in a matter of seconds. I then set up my 3 email accounts in My Email at the TMO website and they auto-configured right onto the 6315 after a few minutes. I also am using "My Email Trigger" and it's wonderful, downloading my email automatically for me.

 If you need a Pocket PC with an integrated GSM/GPRS module, you do not have much choice. There are only a few models with Phone Edition besides the widespread XDA and its clones. However, those are mostly very expensive devices offered by their respective manufacturers and not by mobile operators at a discount bundled with a phone tariff (AnexTEK SP230 is a good example
. Nevertheless, there is a device which sells for the full price only (I have not come across any operator that offers it), but the price is significantly lower than that of a subsidised MDA II! That required some compromising in the configuration but it will surely find its customers. The device is called Yakumo Omikron and is produced by the German company Yakumo. If you think you have seen this device already, you are right - this device is also sold under its manufacturer's brand Eten. I would like to thank the firm Elko from the town of Brno, an authorised distributor of Yakumo in the Czech Republic, for kindly providing the device for review purposes.

What I saw at the HP Wireless & Mobility Roadshow (Part 2)

So I got my hands on the new iPAQs, especially the h6315 and did this lineup shot in comparison to my iPAQ h2210 and Audiovox PPC 4100 (special thanks to Michael Matz and Ron Barber for their patience, as any one would think I would load all my pics into a CAD program for some reverse engineering!) and got to take some pics - unfortunately because of the poor lighting, only a handful of pics were somewhat decent.
Some points worth mentioning:
- The TI processor actually rated at 168Mhz was quite sufficient I must say as everything was quite responsive.
- If you are already familiar with HP's SD camera for the current iPAQ line, the feel of the camera controls are very similar. The real advantage is HP's Image Zone photo management software and how it works on both the device and the PC.
- It will be shipped with the keyboard and the 1800mAh battery which you can expect to have 5 hours talk time/220 hours standby - there will be a 3600mAh battery available (which will add thickness and weight to the device) and you can expect close to double the 5/220 specs.
- T-Mobile's MyEmail will allow you to handle 10 POP/IMAP email accounts and can also be configured to interface Outlook Web Access.
- ClearVue's PDF and PPT Viewer will be included
- T-Mobile Wireless Village (Oz) incorporates AIM, ICQ, and Yahoo! Messenger in one client.

 I really like the Backpack; for myself, it's an indispensable tool that helps me get that much more out of my device, and it's certainly fixed my Wi-Fi problem. I would have loved to use my i-mate with an SDIO Wi-Fi card and a Microdrive fitted to the Backpack; however, I'm prepared to make do with my SD memory card and Wi-Fi via the Backpack. It's not for everyone, but it will certainly solve problems for some!

Engadget writes "So hot on the heels of T-Mobile Deutschland’s unveiling of the MDA III Pocket PC Phone a few weeks back comes news that there’s already an MDA IV on the way that is due out early next year. We suspect this one will probably have the same slide-out mini-keyboard and built-in WiFi as the MDA III (pictured at right), but what we do know is that it will get a bump up in processor speed to 624MHz, have a high-res 640x480 pixel VGA display, and operate on both GSM and 3G networks."

Ipaqabilities is reporting that the HP h5315 has shown up on the T-Mobile website. I have looked high and low on the site and I can not find the reference that they have and they do not link to a page but the picture is interesting. It is a 6315 T-Mobile branded device for sure and it is hard to tell but what are all the applications running in the bottom task bar? Interesting, there are icons there I do not recognize.

I've had a rather good, solid rumour come in about the hp iPAQ h6300, which as you all should know by now has been approved by the FCC, and should hopefully be released soon.
Naturally without an official announcement, it's impossible to be certain of these things - which is why I firmly label it as a rumour - but if it's true, it will make it the cheapest Pocket PC Phone to be released in Australia to date. It wouldn't hurt if it drove the price of the XDA II and the forthcoming Motorola MPx ... not to mention Smartphones!
